Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Downey, CA is seeking a skilled Diesel Technician/Mechanic to complete diagnostics, repairs, and rebuilds on engine products in a service workshop under limited supervision.

The role requires thorough knowledge of Cummins engines and on-site work. You will perform maintenance using diagnostic tools, maintain detailed service records, adhere to safety policies, and pursue ongoing certifications.

Qualifications

• Apprentice Trained Engine Technician or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational diploma from a technical institution.
• Locally valid driving permit preferred and required for on-site duties.

Job description

Job Summary:

Completes diagnostics, repairs and rebuilds on engine products in a service workshop under limited supervision.

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution business in (Downey, CA).

Will make an impact in the following ways:

• Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
• Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
• Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
• Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
• Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
• Maintain own tools

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

• Completes complex internal engine repairs
• Performs engine overhauls unassisted
• Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components
• Proficient experience with engine diagnostic software

5 yrs "heavy line" engine experience, including overhauls

Knowledge of Cummins Diesel/Nat Gas engines and associated repair practices

Knowledge of Cummins warranty policies and procedures

Computer literate (Insite, QSOL, MS Office, Teams)

Ability to communicate details of troubleshooting steps and repair results

8:30 am - 5 pm

• This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements. This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)

Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution

Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.

Min Salary: $62480

Max Salary: $93720
