Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Dearborn, MI, is seeking a skilled Diesel Technician / Mechanic to perform repairs and routine maintenance on engine products in our service shop, with a 9am–5pm shift and on-site work.

The ideal candidate will have Michigan HDT Engine Repair certification, apprentice training, and hands-on experience with engine diagnostic software; commitment to safety and quality is essential. Locally valid driving permit preferred and career development opportunities available.

Job description

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician / Mechanic to join our Distribution business in Dearborn, MI.

You will make an impact in the following ways:

• Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
• Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
• Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
• Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
• Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
• Maintain own tools

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

• Completes complex internal engine repairs
• Performs engine overhauls unassisted
• Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components
• Proficient experience with engine diagnostic software

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Education, Licenses, Certifications:

Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products

Shift Hours - 9am to 5pm

Must have Michigan State Certification in HDT Engine Repair - Diesel

• This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements. This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing.
• A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
• Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older
