Job summary

Cummins is seeking a talented Diesel Technician / Mechanic in Dearborn, MI to join our Distribution team. You will perform repairs and maintenance on engine products, using diagnostic tools, and maintain detailed service records.

You will be required to maintain your own tools and pursue ongoing certifications, with a strong emphasis on safety and compliance with company policies.

Qualifications

  • Apprentice-trained technician preferred.
  • Michigan HDT Engine Repair certification required.
  • Vocational diploma from a technical institution.

Responsibilities

  • Completes complex internal engine repairs
  • Performs engine overhauls unassisted
  • Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components
  • Proficient experience with engine diagnostic software

Job description

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician / Mechanic to join our Distribution business in Dearborn, MI.

You will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop

  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools

  • Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles

  • Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies

  • Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products

  • Maintain own tools

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)

Michigan State Certification in HDT Engine Repair – Diesel (Required)
Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products

Qualifications

Shift Hours - 9am to 5pm

Must have Michigan State Certification in HDT Engine Repair - Diesel

  • - This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements. This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing.
  • - A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
  • - Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older
