Job summary

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC in Cedar Rapids, IA, is hiring a Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic to perform heavy-duty repairs under general supervision. This role includes on-the-job training toward Service Journeyman status and growth within a large Kenworth dealership and leasing network.

The position focuses on hands-on work on engines, fuel and electrical systems, transmissions, and brakes, with emphasis on safety, proper tool use, and DOT/compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years hands-on experience or graduate of vocational courses.
• CDL preferred; A/C, Brake and DOT Annual Inspector Certifications required.
• Necessary tools to perform position responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs and/or assists in general mechanical duties.
• Gains experience on engines, fuel and electrical systems, transmissions, and brakes.
• Troubleshoots minor problems; seeks assistance when needed.
• Maintains a neat and orderly working area and follows safety practices.
