Job summary

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC in Waterloo, IA is seeking a Diesel Service Technician/Mechanic to perform heavy-duty mechanical repair under supervision and participate in a development program to achieve Service Journeyman status.

Responsibilities include engine overhauls, fuel and electrical systems, transmissions, cooling, chassis, brakes, engine tune-ups, and general maintenance, with on-the-job training and strict safety practices throughout.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years hands-on experience or graduate of vocational courses.
• A/C, Brake and DOT Annual Inspector Certifications required.
• Necessary tools to perform position responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs and/or assists in the performance of general mechanical duties.
• Gains experience by working on engine overhaul, fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, chassis, brakes, engine tune-up, and general maintenance.
• Works on major components with close supervision.
• Performs trouble shooting on minor problems.
• Attends training sessions and meetings.
• Maintains a neat and orderly working area, and proper handling of company tools.
• Advises the Shop Foreman if additional repair work is necessary.
