Job summary

Estes-Express-Lines is seeking skilled automotive/mechanical technicians for diesel engine and heavy equipment maintenance at our Lexington, KY location. Responsibilities include performing repairs and preventive maintenance on trucks and forklifts, diagnosing issues, and ensuring compliance with FMCSA safety regulations.

The role requires use of hand tools and test equipment, the ability to read manuals, and a strong work ethic.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent background.
• Must be 17+ years of age.
• Minimum one year experience and/or completion of trade school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to use hand tools and test equipment.
• Must have own tools.
• Should have knowledge of heavy truck repairs and diesel engine system diagnostics.
• Must keep up with changing technology.
• Mechanical ability and interest in engines, electronics and precision equipment.
• Must have strength and stamina for heavy equipment and awkward positions.
• Physical activities include walking, lifting, twisting, climbing a ladder.
• CDL and acceptable MVR required for driving on public roads; if CDL holder, must be registered with FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills.
• Self-starting and organized.
• Strong work ethic and good problem solving skills.
• Willing to work nights and weekends; flexible schedule.
• Able to lift approx. 70 lbs.
• Must comply with all company policies and interact well with others.
• Work independently or in a team; handle tight time constraints in high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
• Must be able to read, interpret and comply with safety rules and maintenance instructions and meet deadlines.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background checks; authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for repairs and required preventive maintenance of diesel engines, trucks and/or forklifts
• Inspect, trouble shoot, diagnose and perform maintenance on equipment
• Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documents required by FMCSA, company and other regulations
• Interpret work orders and technical manuals
• Repair or replace defective parts, components or systems
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure the work meets manufacturer's specifications and legislated regulations
• Regular attendance is required.
• This role may include any other duties as assigned.
