Job summary

Estes-Express-Lines is hiring diesel mechanics to repair and maintain diesel engines, trucks and forklifts, inspect and diagnose equipment, and ensure compliance with specifications and safety rules.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, willingness to work varied shifts including nights and weekends, and the ability to lift 70 lbs. A CDL and FMCSA compliance may be required for driving on public roads.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent background.
• Must be 17+ years of age.
• Minimum 1 year experience or completion of trade school; or equivalent education/experience.
• Able to use hand tools and test equipment.
• Must have own tools.
• Know general repairs and PM criteria.
• Knowledge of heavy truck repairs, including diesel engine diagnostics.
• Ability to keep up with changing technology and updates.
• Mechanical ability and interest in engines/electronics/precision equipment.
• Must have strength to work with heavy equipment and in awkward positions.
• Physical activities include lifting, walking, twisting, climbing ladders, etc.
• CDL and acceptable MVR required if driving on public roads.
• CDL holder must be registered with FMCSA Clearinghouse.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Self-starting and organized.
• Strong work ethic and problem solving skills.
• Willing to work any shift, including nights/weekends; flexible schedule.
• Ability to lift ~70 lbs or more as needed.
• Comply with company policies and conduct.
• Interact well with others; work independently or in a team.
• Capable of working under tight time constraints in high-volume settings.
• Read and interpret safety rules, manuals, and maintenance instructions; meet deadlines.
• Pass pre-employment drug screen and background checks.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Repair and perform preventive maintenance on diesel engines, trucks and/or forklifts.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose and maintain equipment.
• Perform safety inspections and prepare safety documents per FMCSA and regulations.
• Interpret work orders and technical manuals.
• Repair or replace defective parts and systems.
• Test repaired equipment to ensure proper performance and compliance with specs.
• Maintain regular attendance.
