The State of Indiana is hiring a Diesel Mechanic for INDOT Evansville Sub-District. You will perform repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment and light vehicles, diagnose issues, and assist with engine overhauls. CDL is required within 90 days, and CDL training is provided onsite.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or obtain one with the first 90 days of employment.
• Thorough knowledge of automobile functions, systems, and repairs.
• Thorough knowledge of and ability to instruct others in the use of diagnostic equipment.
• Thorough knowledge of appropriate safety precautions.
• Ability to understand the system of mechanical procedures.

Responsabilités

• Rebuild, replace, and/or repair major parts on cars and light trucks, heavy-duty trucks, and heavy equipment.
• Performs minor repairs or other related mechanical work.
• Install snowplow blades and make repairs on damaged plow assemblies.
• Perform minor body repair work.
• Maintain EMS records on parts used and work performed on equipment.
• Service and repair highway equipment in the field; weld/fabricate as needed.
• Diagnose performance issues in gas and diesel engines.
• Inspect vehicles/equipment for damage.
• Perform winter operations duties including snow/ice removal.
• Operate snowplow or tow truck; repair mowers; fuel handling and daily records.
• Perform roadside service calls when equipment is disabled.
• Attend training and safety meetings.
• Order and/or pick up parts as required.
