Job summary

The State of Indiana, through INDOT, is seeking a Diesel Mechanic for the Elkhart Sub-District. You will perform minor to major repairs on snow-fighting equipment, dump trucks, and light vehicles, diagnose issues, and contribute to safety and maintenance programs. CDL required within 90 days; CDL training provided onsite.

Qualifications

• CDL required or obtained within first 90 days of employment.
• Thorough knowledge of automobile functions, systems and repairs.
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment effectively.
• Strong safety mindset and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Rebuild, repair, and service heavy equipment, light vehicles, and related components.
• Diagnose problems and perform engine, transmission, and brake repairs.
• Maintain EMS records of parts used and work performed.
• Coordinate tasks with Shop Foreman and support site operations.
• Attend training, safety, and mechanic meetings as required.
