Job summary

The State of Indiana seeks a Diesel Mechanic for the Gary Shop to repair and maintain heavy equipment, snow-fighting gear, and light vehicles. You will diagnose problems, perform major and minor repairs, and ensure safety standards across field and shop work.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL or obtain one within 90 days.
• Thorough knowledge of automobile functions, systems, and repairs.

• Ability to understand mechanical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Rebuild, replace, and repair major parts on cars, light trucks, and heavy equipment.
• Perform minor repairs and service tasks as needed.
• Install snowplow blades and repair plow assemblies.
• Maintain EMS records for parts and work performed.
