Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking an entry-level technician to assist with inspections and basic maintenance on truck fleets. You will work under supervision to perform DOT and safety inspections, test drive vehicles, and complete work orders, while maintaining a clean and safe shop environment.

Candidates should have 1+ years of relevant experience, be willing to learn diagnostic methods, and comply with DOT/OSHA regulations. CDL (Class A/B) preferred or obtainable within six months.

Qualifications

• Entry-level knowledge/experience of at least 1+ years.
• Willingness to learn more complex diagnostic and repair process.
• Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and other related state and federal regulations.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals.
• Experience using diagnostic software is preferred. Must be computer literate and willing and able to be trained in software systems.
• Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred, or the willingness and ability to obtain one within six months of employment.
• ASE certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with inspection of brake systems, engine components, emission systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings.
• Participate in basic preventative maintenance including tire, oil and brake changes.
• Test drive trucks to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
• Perform DOT, PM, brake and safety inspections on vehicles under supervision.
• Complete work orders, order parts and handle daily administrative duties.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and comply with safety regulations.
• Read and interpret safety rules and manuals used in maintenance work.
