Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking an entry-level maintenance technician to assist with inspections of brake systems, engine components, and other critical parts to ensure proper operation. The role includes preventative maintenance, test driving trucks, and performing safety inspections under supervision.

You will participate in DOT and PM inspections, complete work orders, and maintain a clean, safe work area while developing diagnostics skills and knowledge of hydraulic systems.

Qualifications

• Entry-level knowledge/experience of at least 1+ years.
• Willingness to learn more complex diagnostic and repair processes.
• Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and other related state and federal regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively across various levels of the organization and with customers and external vendors.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules and maintenance instructions.
• Experience using diagnostic software is preferred; must be computer literate and trainable in software systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist with inspection of brake systems, engine components, emission systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings and other parts to ensure proper operation.
• Perform preventive maintenance including tire, oil and brake changes.
• Test drive trucks to diagnose malfunctions and verify operation.
• Under supervision, perform DOT, PM, brake and safety inspections on all vehicles.
• Complete work orders, order parts and perform other administrative duties daily.
• Complete work as scheduled by shop supervision or higher-grade technicians.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
