Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. seeks a diesel/heavy equipment mechanic to diagnose and repair operational issues on diesel trucks, CNG and electric vehicles. You will use diagnostic software and manuals, maintain a clean shop, and assist with parts procurement and work orders.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with a technical diploma preferred, and at least 1 year of hands-on experience. Candidates must be able to lift up to 100 lbs and work safely in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED; technical diploma or trade certification strongly preferred.
• Experience: 1 year of hands-on diesel/heavy equipment experience.
• Tech-Savvy: Comfortable with diagnostic software and digital work orders.
• Tools of the Trade: Own personal tool set for heavy equipment maintenance.
• Physical Capability: Lift up to 100 lbs and work in dynamic shop environments.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose & Repair: Troubleshoot and repair operational difficulties on heavy-duty diesel trucks, CNG, gas, and electronically operated vehicles and rolling stock.
• Master the Tech: Utilize diagnostic software, repair manuals, and top-tier hand and power tools to get to the root of mechanical issues.
• Keep Things Scheduled: Plan and schedule repairs in the M5 planner, procure necessary parts, and assist with mechanical write-ups and work orders.
• Work Safe, Work Smart: Maintain a clean, organized work area and strictly adhere to safety regulations.
• Support the Team: Collaborate with team members, assist in training new mechanics, and participate in technical seminars.
