Job summary

XPO Logistics, Inc. is seeking a Mechanic Apprentice in the United States. The role involves routine maintenance on heavy-duty diesel equipment, forklifts, and trailers, with emphasis on DOT and EPA compliance.

You will gain hands-on experience while working afternoons, Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, with a quarterly tool allowance and a strong benefits package. The position offers full health, life and disability insurance from day one, PTO, holidays, 401(k) matching, and education

Qualifications

1 year of experience in tractor and trailer inspection and repair or a tech school degree with heavy-duty maintenance certification
Valid driver’s license
Available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings and weekends
Brake inspection qualification per FMCSA 396.25
Vehicle inspection qualification per FMCSA 396.19
Basic hand tools required for heavy-duty trailer and tractor maintenance

Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance on heavy-duty diesel equipment, forklifts, and trailing equipment per manufacturer, DOT, and company schedules
Apply knowledge of DOT, EPA, Interstate Authority, OSHA rules as required
Inspect and access equipment in all areas for maintenance
Repair or rebuild equipment systems
Conduct safety inspections and document safety work
Move trailers on property using a hostler in all weather
Enter job times and parts on repair orders
Operate specialized tooling and vehicles
Keep work area clean, safe, and organized
Interact with operations and shop management
