Job summary

XPO Logistics, Inc. is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair class 6–8 diesel fleets, forklifts and trailing equipment.

The role involves routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs performed to DOT and EPA standards. The position offers 2nd shift from 2:00pm to 10:30pm, company uniforms, tool allowance, health, life and disability insurance, PTO, holidays, 401(k) with match, and education assistance.

Qualifications

• 2 years of tractor and trailer maintenance experience or a technical school certification in heavy-duty truck/trailer maintenance.
• EPA HVAC Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certification within 90 days of hire.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Basic welding skills (Oxy/Acetylene, MIG, ARC) and mechanical aptitude.
• Basic hand tools required for heavy-duty trailer and tractor maintenance.
• Basic computer skills.
• Brake inspection qualified per FMCSA 396.25.
• Vehicle Inspection qualified per FMCSA 396.19.
• Willing to work days, evenings, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on class 6–8 diesel equipment, forklifts and trailing equipment.
• Inspect and service equipment, including access to and under parts of the equipment.
• Repair or rebuild subsystems as needed.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues and perform repairs.
• Comply with DOT, EPA, OSHA and related regulations.
• Conduct safety inspections and document results.
• Move trailers on site using a hostler in various weather.
• Log job times and parts on repair orders.
• Operate specialized tooling and vehicles.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area.
• Coordinate with operations and shop management.
