Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. in Lebanon, MO is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair our waste and recycling fleet. You will perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and major repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components to ensure safe, reliable operations.

Shift is Sunday-Thursday 8pm-5am with overtime after 40 hours. Pay ranges from $23 to $35 per hour, based on experience and certifications.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience as a diesel technician/mechanic.
• Own a personal set of basic mechanics tools.
• Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain).
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, air brakes, diesel engines, and electrical troubleshooting.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs in a fast-paced shop.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems and pneumatic/air brake systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic and mechanical issues using diagnostic software and tools.
• Repair and maintain specialized waste equipment (compressors, hydraulic cylinders, automated arms, and lift systems).
• Conduct safety inspections to ensure DOT and company standards compliance.
• Maintain clean and accurate work orders and fleet maintenance records.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and adhere to OSHA and DOT safety protocols.

About The Role: We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair our waste and recycling fleet. In this role, you will perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and major repairs on refuse trucks (rear loaders, side loaders, front loaders, and roll-offs) to ensure safe and reliable operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance (PMs), inspections, and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic/air brake systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues using diagnostic software and tools.
