Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair our waste and recycling fleet in Bay City, TX. You will perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and major repairs on refuse trucks to ensure safe and reliable operations.

The role requires 1 year of diesel mechanic experience, own basic tools, and a valid driver’s license. You will work 12pm-10pm with overtime after 40 hours and on-call every third Saturday, with benefits including health coverage after 60

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience as a diesel technician/mechanic.
• Must own a personal set of basic mechanics tools.
• Valid Driver’s License required (Class A or B CDL preferred, or willingness to obtain).
• Strong working knowledge of hydraulics, air brakes, diesel engines, and electrical troubleshooting.
• Physical Ability: Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced shop environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance (PMs), inspections, and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic/air brake systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues using diagnostic software and tools.
• Repair and maintain specialized waste equipment (compressors, hydraulic cylinders, automated arms, and lift systems).
• Conduct safety inspections to ensure compliance with DOT and company standards.
• Maintain clean and accurate work orders and fleet maintenance records.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and adhere to all OSHA and DOT safety protocols.

Pay Rate:$25-$35/hr. More pay available based on experience, certifications, and skill level.

Hours / Shift:12pm-10pm M-F. Immediate Overtime after 40hrs worked. Every 3rd Saturday will be on call.

About the Role
