Job summary

HOLT CAT is hiring a diesel mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair heavy equipment. The role emphasizes self-motivation, teamwork, and adherence to safety and quality standards in a dynamic Texas shop environment.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in diesel repair, can read schematics, and has experience with various engines and aftertreatments. Some travel may be required; Overtime may be needed to meet customer needs.

Qualifications

• Four or more years of diesel-powered heavy equipment repair experience preferred.
• Ability to read/use schematics and diagrams experience is preferred.
• Graduation from a diesel technology program preferred.
• Must be able to work outside in different environments while providing high quality repairs.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions and failures
• Disassembles and assembles machine components to manufacturer’s specifications through the use of hand tools, pneumatic tools, and any specialized tooling
• Rebuilds, repairs, reconditions, and maintains equipment and components
• Communicates customer needs to shop management
• Plans and controls cost of repair jobs
• Completes parts orders and identifies parts for return
• Mentors and helps train other technicians
• Maintains all equipment and work areas – keeps in good, clean, and orderly condition
• Completes all documents associated with repairs in a timely manner
• Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; e.g., ProTech Technician Training Paths
