Job summary
Capital Waste Services in Columbia, SC is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs for our fleet. This role ensures safe, reliable operation of the collection fleet through routine servicing and timely repairs.
The technician will follow safety policies, document maintenance actions, and collaborate with fleet staff to keep vehicles in optimal condition in a fast-paced shop and outdoor environment.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read service manuals, diagrams, and repair procedures.
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems and basic electrical diagnostics.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
- Ability to lift up to 65 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on trucks, equipment, and fleet assets.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
- Follow all safety policies and comply with OSHA/DOT/FMCSA regulations.
- Accurately complete work orders and maintenance documentation.
- Collaborate with fleet maintenance staff and operations personnel.
