Job summary

Sysco Foods is seeking a skilled Fleet Maintenance Technician in the Des Plaines area to perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and expert repairs on a wide range of vehicles and equipment. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and efficiency to reduce downtime.

You will diagnose failures, document work with our systems, and operate/demonstrate proficiency with OEM diagnostic software. A valid driver's license and heavy-duty training are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2-year school and 1 year of experience or 3 years of experience in fleet maintenance and repair.
• Current and valid driver's license.
• ASE and other industry certifications encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and maintain fleet vehicles within planned time tolerances to maximize safety, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Perform annual inspections on all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, and other equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance per company methods on all fleet vehicles and equipment.
• Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs to manufacturer specifications.
• Document all work performed on work orders and learn Sysco computer programs.
