Job summary

Verizon is seeking a skilled Fleet Mechanic for New York. You will maintain and repair a range of fleet vehicles and equipment, diagnose issues with computer test equipment, and ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI, and state inspections.

Applicants should have 5+ years as a mechanic, CDL/permit within 6 months, NY Safety Inspection and Air Brakes certifications, MACS/EPA refrigerant certification, and a valid driver's license. Shift includes 3pm–11pm with potential overtime.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience as a mechanic or relevant experience.
• CDL license or Commercial Learner's Permit (CDL required within 6 months of hire).
• NY State Safety Inspection License (or obtain within 6 months of hire).
• Certificate for Air Brakes Inspection (or obtain within 6 months of hire).
• Certificate for handling automotive refrigerant (MACS/EPA number) (or obtain within 6 months of hire).
• Valid state driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Tests – Results must meet minimum requirements per company policy.
• Must meet safety-related requirements including OSHA/state standards.
• Must be able to perform physical requirements up to 75 lbs.
• CDL required within 6 months of hire and alcohol/drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Performing maintenance and repair of all types of motor vehicles and special equipment in the Verizon fleet.
• Diagnosing and repairing equipment including aerial lifts, diggers, generators, tools, etc.
• Using computer test equipment to diagnose vehicle problems.
• Interfacing with vehicle users regarding repairs and questions.
• Performing OSHA, ANSI, emissions and state inspections on company vehicles.
• Using fleet maintenance tracking systems for work assignments and records.
• Obtaining and maintaining all required certificates or licenses.
• Working evenings, weekends, holidays and unscheduled shifts as needed.
• Work tour hours 3pm–11pm, Monday through Friday (hours may vary); overtime as needed.
