Job summary

Republic Services in the United States is seeking a Maintenance Technician B to repair and maintain diesel and non-diesel equipment, including chassis components, refuse bodies, and hydraulic/electrical systems. The role covers engine, HVAC, suspension, drive train, and braking systems, with on-site and on-road service as needed.

You will gain training on new technologies while supporting drivers and maintaining a high-performing fleet.

Qualifications

• Ability to diagnose multi-system issues across gasoline and diesel equipment.
• Basic understanding of work order labor time standards.
• Prior experience with maintenance on Class 1-8 trucks, aircraft, or ships.
• ASE Certifications (T1-T8) are a plus but not required.
• Commercial Driver’s License is a plus but not required.
• 3-5 years of technician experience or graduation from automotive college/tech school within 3 months.
• Valid Driver’s License is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains working knowledge of vehicle components and systems; perform preventative and repair maintenance on-site and on the road.
• Repair and maintain chassis components and refuse bodies including hydraulic/electrical systems and air/hydraulic braking systems.
• Perform light engine repair, suspension, drivetrain, and steering system work; service HVAC components.
• Weld and fabricate as needed; provide road service to return equipment to operation safely.
• Identify malfunctions using electronic tools and complete company training programs.
• Participate in additional duties as assigned and maintain safety and quality standards.
