Job summary

JFK Transportation in Santa Ana, CA is seeking an experienced Diesel Technician to diagnose and repair heavy vehicle diesel systems in a busy fleet. You will perform electrical and diagnostic work, maintain records, and conduct road calls as needed, with a focus on safety, quality, and timely service.

Candidates should have at least three years of relevant hands-on experience, pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen, and bring the recommended tools to the job.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years diesel mechanic repair experience.
• Diagnostic and Electrical skills are a must.
• Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment is required.
• Have previous fleet experience and are familiar with diesel and gasoline systems.
• Possess the recommended minimum hand tools for a Diesel Technician.
• Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses malfunctions and performs vehicle repairs such as, adjust/test steering, electrical, cooling, lubricating, braking systems, drive trains, suspensions, power steering units, clutches, transmissions and oil, temperature, gas regulating components, adjust/test/rebuild engines etc.
• Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, subassemblies, components, parts, or systems.
• Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules
• Identifies and reports any additional maintenance and/or repairs found necessary in conducting assigned repairs and maintenance.
• Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
• Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
• Records time spent, parts used and repairs and/or maintenance conducted on appropriate form.
• Advises Maintenance Supervisor of unsafe maintenance conditions or practices and/or vehicle abuse.
• Performs road calls and on the road repairs as assigned.
