Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care is seeking an entry-level Area Float Pool Registered Nurse for the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP) in an outpatient setting. You will assess, plan, intervene and evaluate care for an assigned group of patients undergoing hemodialysis.

You will collaborate with RNs, LVN/LPNs and Patient Care Technicians, participate in education and leadership duties, and contribute to quality improvement and patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Entry-level RN with less than 2 years of nephrology nursing experience.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current state licensure in the practicing state.
• Current or successful CPR BLS certification.
• Must meet state practice requirements.

Responsibilities

• Performs all essential functions under the direction of the Supervisor and with guidance from the Clinical Educator, Preceptor or in collaboration with other Registered Nurses.
• Performs ongoing, systematic collection and analysis of patient data pre – during – post hemodialysis treatment and documents in the patient record.
• Assesses and documents patient/family learning needs for education.
• Directs daily provision of safe and effective hemodialysis therapy for assigned patients.
• Administers medications as prescribed or per approved algorithms.
• Initiates or assists with emergency response measures.
• Serves as a resource for the health care team and participates in staff training.
• Ensures proper lab collection, processing and shipping; reschedules missed labs.
• Updates nursing assessment and care plan in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team.
• Informs patients about transplant and treatment modality options.
