Job summary

VT Group (VTG) in Manassas, VA is seeking a Staff II DevOps Engineer to automate delivery, installation, integration, and testing of Navy tactical software. You will lead a small team and coordinate with a national community of government partners to implement secure CI/CD pipelines and PaaS services.

The role requires 6+ years of DevOps experience, Linux mastery, Kubernetes/Proxmox/Helm, container tooling, and US SECRET clearance.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience as a DevOps engineer (or similar role).
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology, (or similar degree).
• Extensive experience using Linux (RHEL/Centos 7, 8, 9).
• Experience with CI/CD tools and frameworks (GitLab, Runners, Python, Ansible, Rook/Ceph).
• Extensive experience with shell scripting languages (Bash, etc.).
• Experience with modern PaaS environment tools such as Kubernetes, Proxmox, and/or Helm.
• Experience developing containers and using related tools such as Podman.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Initiative, innovation, and resourcefulness.
• US Citizen with current SECRET Clearance or ability to obtain a SECRET clearance
• Successful completion of background check

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team of junior DevOps engineers
• Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, PaaS, PaaS Services, Automated Tests, Data Architecture solutions, etc..
• Evaluate commercial and open-source products for use in CI/CD pipelines and in a PaaS
• Integrate 3rd party applications
• Conceive, develop, and evaluate novel engineering solutions to address the unique requirements of the maritime environment
• Participate in cross-domain working groups to coordinate prototyping efforts and brief results to senior engineers
• Provide and update technical documentation for all work performed.
