Job summary

VTG in Manassas, VA, seeks a Staff II DevOps Engineer to automate delivery, installation, integration and testing of Navy tactical software across on‑premise environments.

You will lead a small team, design and maintain CI/CD pipelines, tackle cybersecurity analysis, and prototype solutions spanning servers, VMs, containers, and networks for maritime systems. This role requires initiative, strong communication, and the ability to collaborate with government partners nationwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems/Computer/Software/Information Technology or similar.
• 6+ years of experience as a DevOps engineer or similar.
• Experience with Linux (RHEL/CentOS 7/8/9).
• Experience with CI/CD tools and frameworks (GitLab, Runners, Python, Ansible, Rook/Ceph).
• Experience with shell scripting languages (Bash).
• Experience with modern PaaS environment tools such as Kubernetes, Proxmox, and/or Helm.
• Experience developing containers and using Podman.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team of junior DevOps engineers.
• Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, PaaS, PaaS services, automated tests, and data architecture solutions.
• Evaluate commercial and open-source products for use in CI/CD pipelines and in a PaaS.
• Integrate third-party applications.
• Conceive and prototype novel engineering solutions for maritime environments.
• Coordinate prototyping with cross-domain groups and brief results to senior engineers.
• Provide and update technical documentation.
