Job summary

VTG is seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer in Chantilly, VA to lead and deliver modern ICAM solutions on a large program. You will design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines, manage containerized apps with Docker/Kubernetes (EKS/ECS), and automate cloud infrastructure using AWS services.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using industry-standard DevOps tools.
• Develop, maintain, and support automated build, deployment, and release processes.
• Administer and support Linux-based environments.
• Utilize DevOps tools including Jenkins, GitHub, Rundeck, and Nexus to support software development and deployment activities.
• Support the full SDLC using DevOps best practices.
• Utilize testing and performance tools such as JUnit to ensure quality.
• Develop scripts and automate infrastructure using AWS services (CloudFormation, EC2, S3, RDS, VPC).

As a DevOps Engineer on this program, you will have the opportunity to build strong systems and software utilizing cloud capabilities to support a complex program. Based in DevOps framework, you will participate in and/or direct major deliverables throughout all aspects of the software development lifecycle including scope and work estimation, architecture and design, coding and unit testing. This role requires supporting an on-call rotation to ensure mission critical services remain operational 24/7/365. Rotation is typically to be on-call 1 full calendar week every 2 months.

• Utilize version control and issue tracking systems to support software development activities.
• Work within Agile development teams using Jira and Confluence.
• Implement container registry and container security best practices.
• Collaborate with development, operations, and project teams to support successful software delivery.
