Job summary

Monarch Healthcare in North Carolina seeks a Developmental Specialist to help people achieve personal goals through community engagement and advocacy. You will support daily living activities, transportation, and safety, while promoting self-determination and rights protection.

The role involves driving, flexible schedules, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to implement individualized plans. A high school diploma and NC driver license are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Valid North Carolina Driver License is required.
• Experience working with populations with mental health, intellectual/developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders.

Responsibilities

• Assess each person’s hopes, dreams, and desires and provide supports to help achieve them.
• Help individuals build relationships in the community and with natural supports.
• Assist in participating fully in the community according to each person’s interests.
• Protect and promote the rights of each person and help develop advocacy skills.
• Provide emotional, physical, and medical support as needed.
• Foster positive relationships using person-centered approaches that support self-determination.
• Contribute to assessments, planning, and implementation of each person’s plan.
• Complete documentation including goals, actions, incidents, and timesheets.
• Prepare daily progress notes and ensure appointments and goals are met.
• Assist with daily home operations: housekeeping, meals, laundry, shopping, and vehicle care.
• Drive and travel as required; arrange or provide transportation as needed.
• Respond to emergencies and train staff on safety procedures and drills.
• Support orientation and training for new or current staff; participate in meetings.
