Job summary

The New York Foundling, a longstanding nonprofit in New York City, seeks staff for its Developmental Division to support individuals with developmental disabilities. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required or equivalent.
• AMAP, SCIP, CPR, and First Aid certifications preferred.
• Valid NY/NJ/CT/PA Driver’s License with 6 points or less required.
• Experience working with adults that have developmental disabilities.
• Demonstrated strong commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Ensure appropriate supervision, health and safety of individuals; Implement Individual Plan of Protective Oversight.
• Advocate for individuals in the community (medical appointments, church, recreation activities etc.).
• Ensure individual's plan of care is implemented.
• Ensure that individual medication is administered as prescribed.
• Assist in daily living skills (personal hygiene, food preparation, house keeping, laundry, shopping).
• Facilitate learning and skill training in fire safety.
• Documentation of goals and progress.
• Maintain CPR/First Aid, SCIP, and AMAP certifications.
• Provide atmosphere conducive to positive behavior.
• Observe and report regressive or unusual behavior; work with clinical staff.
