Job summary

The New York Foundling seeks staff to provide care and support for adults with developmental disabilities in community-based residential settings. You will help with daily living tasks, safety, meals, and transportation, while adhering to individualized care plans and required certifications.

Role emphasizes advocacy, documentation, and collaboration with clinical staff; prior safety training and valid license are preferred to support residents in empowering, stable living environments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; AMAP, SCIP, CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with 6 points or less.
• Experience working with adults who have developmental disabilities.
• Demonstrated strong commitment to safety.
• AMAP/SCIP/CPR/First Aid certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure supervision, health and safety of individuals; implement Individual Plan of Protective Oversight.
• Advocate for individuals in the community (medical appointments, church, recreation activities).
• Ensure care plans are implemented and medications are administered as prescribed.
• Assist with daily living skills and maintain a safe facility per OPWDD/COA standards.
• Support in meal planning, shopping, and transportation for activities and appointments.
• Document progress notes and maintain certifications in CPR/First Aid/AMAP/SCIP.
