Job summary

The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) seeks a dynamic Director of Development and Donor Relations to lead comprehensive fundraising efforts in Washington, DC. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 7+ years fundraising, development, and grant writing experience.
• Experience developing multi-year, multi-million funding grant proposals.
• Proven track record of meeting fundraising goals and securing major gifts.
• Knowledge of board governance and engaging volunteers in fundraising.
• Experience with fundraising and donor research for individual, corporate and foundation giving.
• Proficiency with fundraising software such as Salesforce and donor databases/online platforms.
• Experience working in non-profit organizations and fundraising techniques.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage all aspects of fundraising to sustain and enhance NAEYC’s services.
• Cultivate and steward relationships with foundations, corporations, and individual donors.
• Identify and oversee grant opportunities, including proposals and reports.
• Develop sponsorship and donor engagement strategies across audiences.
• Plan fundraising appeals and planned giving initiatives.
• Generate donor communications, newsletters, and impact reports.
• Collaborate with leadership and staff to meet funding needs and expand capacity.
• Monitor fundraising data and adjust strategies as needed.
