Job summary

24 Seven Talent in the DC area is partnering with a mission-driven nonprofit to identify a Director of Development who will lead philanthropic growth and expand impact across the region. This is a highly visible leadership role for an experienced fundraising professional who builds donor relationships, develops comprehensive fundraising strategies, and personally cultivates major gifts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, or related field.
• 5–7+ years of progressive fundraising experience.
• At least 3 years in director-level fundraising with $500K+ annual gifts.
• Proven success in cultivating and closing six- to seven-figure gifts.
• Experience across major gifts, campaigns, grants, and donor stewardship.
• Strong leadership, storytelling, and relationship-building skills.
• Willingness to travel regionally.
• Experience in mission-driven or faith-based organization is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy.
• Manage a portfolio of major donors and high-potential prospects.
• Build relationships with individuals, corporations, foundations, board members, partners.
• Lead cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship for six- and seven-figure gifts.
• Oversee major gifts, annual giving, grants, corporate partnerships, events, and campaigns.
• Identify new funding opportunities and diversify philanthropic revenue.
• Partner with leadership on fundraising priorities and campaigns.
• Collaborate with Marketing to create donor campaigns and impact stories.
• Work with program leaders to translate outcomes into funding opportunities.
• Set fundraising goals, budgets, forecasts, dashboards, and metrics.
• Engage board and volunteers in donor relations.
• Recruit, coach, and develop a development team.
