Job summary

Children’s National Hospital is seeking an Assistant Director of Development to expand unrestricted revenue by advancing donor engagement across annual giving and major gifts pipelines. The role focuses on cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individuals and groups to support a $500k annual expectation.

With senior leadership support, you will manage a portfolio and drive donor strategy. The position emphasizes relationship-building, collaboration, and delivering a world-class donor

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required (Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or related field).
• 4+ years fundraising or similar experience in annual giving, major gifts, or related programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, donor-centered approach, and professionalism.
• Ability to develop and implement fundraising strategies and donor engagement plans.
• Experience in healthcare or academic settings is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to collaborate with teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of annual gift and low-level major gift prospects.
• Cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships to increase unrestricted revenue.
• Lead donor strategy through phone, email, mail, and in-person interactions.
• Renew 80% of assigned donors annually and secure new gifts of $5,000+.
• Identify major gift and planned giving prospects and coordinate hand-offs to Gift Officers.
• Maintain accurate donor data and program records in the fundraising database.
