Job summary

NAEYC, the National Association for the Education of Young Children, seeks a dynamic Director of Development and Donor Relations for full-time work in the DC area. This leadership role oversees fundraising strategy, donor cultivation, grants, major gifts, planned giving, and campaigns to grow revenues while supporting early childhood education.

Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, the Director will lead a team, collaborate with the leadership and board, and expand philanthropic

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with 7+ years fundraising, development, and grant writing experience.
• Experience developing multi-year, multi-million funding proposals.
• Proven track record of meeting fundraising goals and securing major gifts.
• Experience with donor research for individual, corporate and foundation giving.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement a comprehensive development plan to meet annual revenue goals.
• Cultivate and steward relationships with foundations, corporations, and individual donors.
• Identify grant opportunities and oversee proposal/report preparation.
• Lead sponsorship pipeline and donor communications, campaigns, and events.
• Develop planned giving, stewardship processes, and donor communications.
