Job summary

Justice North seeks a strategic Director of Development to lead grants management, fundraising, and revenue development. This senior role will oversee 30–40 active grants and work across Finance, legal services, and program teams to align funding with priorities and ensure accountability.

The ideal candidate combines hands-on grant writing with leadership and analytics, and is prepared to travel within northern Minnesota as needed in a hybrid/remote work arrangement.

Qualifications

• Seven+ years of nonprofit development and grants management experience.
• Experience managing federal, state, and local government grants with complex reporting and compliance requirements.
• Experience in legal aid, public interest, or similarly complex nonprofit organizations.
• Exceptional writing skills for competitive grant proposals, reports, and funding narratives.
• Strong strategic planning, budgeting, and organizational management skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy focused on sustaining funding, diversifying revenue, and supporting long‑term financial stability.
• Oversee the full grant lifecycle for approximately 30–40 active grants and funder relationships.
• Lead development and writing of significant grant proposals, reports, and funding requests.
• Collaborate with Finance on grant budgets, financial reporting, revenue forecasting, and compliance.
• Expand individual giving, donor retention, and relationships with institutional funders and partners.
• Supervise staff and coordinate across Development, Finance, and legal services teams.
