Job summary

Volunteers of America Upstate NY seeks a Development Director to lead fundraising strategy, donor cultivation, grant development, and community partnerships in Rochester, NY. The role focuses on increasing unrestricted revenue and building long-term support for the organization.

The position requires overseeing annual campaigns, major gifts, capital campaigns and planned giving while collaborating with the CEO and board committees. Evening events and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, fund development, business or communications.
• Minimum of three years of progressive experience in fund development with proven results.
• Knowledge of fundraising techniques including major gifts, campaigns, grants and events.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to grow revenue.
• Oversee annual appeal campaigns and expand the donor base.
• Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects and donors.
• Generate support through major gifts, campaigns, sponsorships, and grants.
• Develop new funding sources and assist with events and planned giving.
• Engage Board members and manage donor recognition activities.
