Job summary

Volunteers of America Upstate NY is seeking a Grants and Program Development Coordinator to secure public and private funding and develop new programs that advance VOA's mission in the Rochester area.

You will research funding opportunities, prepare competitive grant applications, support reporting and compliance, and help launch new programs and services in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in nonprofit management, public administration, communications, English, social sciences, human services, business, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in grant writing, grant administration, nonprofit development, program development, government contracting, or related field preferred.
• Excellent written communication and editing skills; ability to translate complex program information into clear grant narratives.

Responsibilities

• Research and identify government, foundation, and other funding opportunities that align with VOA's programs and priorities.
• Lead or assist in preparing federal, state, county, municipal, and private grant applications.
• Review RFPs, Notices of Funding Opportunity, funding announcements, and related guidance to identify eligibility requirements, priorities, scoring criteria, attachments, and deadlines.
• Collaborate with program and leadership staff to develop needs statements, program descriptions, goals, objectives, outcomes, work plans, evaluation plans, and sustainability strategies.
• Coordinate with Finance and program staff to obtain budgets, program data, organizational information, and required materials for grant applications.
• Maintain standard organizational information, program descriptions, data, and supporting documents used in grant applications.
• Assist with electronic submissions through federal, state, and local grant portals.
