Job summary

Rainforest Action Network (RAN) in California is seeking a Development Director to lead the skilled fundraising team and drive an annual budget of about $8.0 million. The role aims to convert program achievements and media coverage into meaningful donor connections and to shape RAN’s fundraising vision for growth in environmental and human rights activism.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated success in fundraising with individual and institutional donors.
• Progressively senior-level leadership and management experience.
• Strategic and creative thinking focused on long-term financial health.
• Strong communication and relationship-building for donors and staff.
• Experience with fundraising databases such as Raiser's Edge.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic fundraising plan for the organization.
• Collaborate with Executive, Leadership and Development teams, and the Board to solicit donations.
• Coach staff and Board on donor engagement across channels.
• Oversee Development department budget with revenue projections.
• Coordinate communications for supporters and donors.
• Grow revenue from Planned Giving and donor-advised funds.
