Job summary

The University of Texas at Dallas in Richardson, TX seeks a Development Associate to support the Jonsson School development team and leadership annual giving efforts. You will help manage calendars, coordinate donor visits, and assist with events while documenting prospect activity in the alumni and donor system.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree with 1+ year of admin experience, and brings strong speaking, writing, and time-management skills to a collaborative environment.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Jonsson School Assistant Dean of Development and Alumni Relations, this position supports the Assistant Dean and the Jonsson School development team. The successful candidate will work with the Jonsson School development and alumni relations team to support the activities of leadership annual giving and stewardship. A successful candidate for this role will be excited to join the collaborative, open-minded and trust-filled environment that supports the development and alumni relations efforts of The University of Texas at Dallas and the Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science. This person should possess a high level of respect for all people and a customer service mentality that emphasizes the importance of relationships. The Development Associate will be intellectually curious and committed to continuously improving their leadership, skills, and knowledge.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree; one year administration experience; or any equivalent combination of relevant education, training & experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree and a desire for a career in fundraising. Preferred experience is at least 1 year experience in development, preferably in higher education. Candidates must also possess outstanding speaking, writing, and time-management skills.

Other Qualifications

To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Support the Assistant Dean and team in their development and alumni relations work. Manage the Assistant Dean’s calendar, support stewardship efforts, scheduling of donor visits, and event support. Support the Assistant Dean in identifying and stewarding a pool of individual prospects and documenting all prospect activity in the University’s alumni and donor management database. In addition, this person will work closely with the Assistant Director of Operations to manage the development team’s expenses, reimbursements, cost centers and budget for reconciliation and support the Assistant Director in other duties as needed.

The Development Associate will work directly with the Jonsson Development team to support a development and alumni relationship strategy focused on leadership annual giving donors and help strengthen the pipeline of major gift donors.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

May require long periods of standing/walking; lifting (10-20lbs) occasionally, and stationary work.

Additional Information

The position requires occasional evening/weekend hours and may require some travel.

Hybrid Remote Work Notice: Following successful completion of an initial training period, a hybrid work schedule may be available, subject to business needs and departmental approval. Employees must be located within the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area and have the ability to be on campus for work activities as scheduled and/or with 24-hour notice. Completion and approval of a UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required, and use of personal computer, internet, and other standard equipment may be required. Remote work arrangements are subject to regular review and re-approval and may be cancelled.
