You will back three PLG professionals and collaborate across the team on events, research, and donor engagement.

The PLG unit engages major donors for UJA’s annual campaign, coordinating programs and events for donors at the $25K+ level.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and related administrative experience.
  • Comfortable using technology and learning new databases.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent time management in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Development Assistant in the Philanthropic Leadership Group (PLG) department provides essential administrative support and analytical skills to the Stewardship and Philanthropic Services (SPS) arm of the department. They will support three professionals on the PLG team and work across the broader team on events, research, strategy and more.

The Development Assistant in the Philanthropic Leadership Group (PLG) department provides essential administrative support and analytical skills to the Stewardship and Philanthropic Services (SPS) arm of the department. They will support three professionals on the PLG team and work across the broader team on events, research, strategy and more.

The PLG department serves as the strategic engager of major donors to UJA’s annual campaign. The work of our team is varied and includes a myriad of programs and events throughout the year to engage and steward UJA’s major donors; much of this engagement is through the major giving societies at the $25K+ gift level.

Another core focus of the SPS work involves creating and managing site visits and volunteerism in collaboration with our fundraising colleagues throughout the organization. In addition, ongoing meetings, donor interactions, and collaborative projects are a central part of our work.

Major Responsibilities
  • Learn to navigate and maintain a sophisticated donor database.
  • Rapidly become adept at using the database to generate gift reports.
  • Build internal relationships and successfully navigate the various departments in a large organization to effectively and expeditiously complete assigned tasks.
  • Assist in the development of fundraising materials, which may include assembling mailings, processing gifts, and preparing gift-related paperwork.
  • Staff in person fundraising and volunteering events and site visits, which may require time before and after business hours.
  • Maintain inbox responding to donor requests in a timely manner.
  • Track attendance for events and communicate regularly with major donors who RSVP or require additional information.
  • Support professionals in everyday tasks, managing calendars, scheduling meetings, answering phones, etc.
  • Prepare for internal and external meetings, as well as donor meetings and site visits, including logistics, typing and duplication of materials.
  • Document donor meetings and significant correspondences to maintain accurate records of activity and engagement.
  • Track and research prospective donors; maintaining charts to track strategy for donor and prospect engagement.
  • General administrative duties, such as routing mail, filing, photocopying, and faxing.
Qualifications And Competencies
  • Bachelor’s degree and related administrative experience
  • Comfortable using technology and learning new databases
  • Be able to work on projects independently while also working as part of a team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Positive work ethic, with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, effective time manager, with the ability to prioritize and multitask in an extremely fast-paced work environment
Salary Information

The salary for this role is $50,000 annually.

Reporting Information

This role reports to the Director of Stewardship and Philanthropic Services, PLG and is a hybrid position, with a set three days/week (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday) in office.
