Job summary

New Directions For Women Inc in the United States seeks a licensed vocational nurse to provide care within the detox program, performing vitals, assessments, and medication observation.

You will coordinate admissions/discharges, communicate with families and outside providers, and ensure infection control and safety protocols are followed.

Must maintain California LVN licensure, CPR/First Aid, and be able to work independently with diverse clients; training and probation checks are required.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current California LVN license and maintain licensure.
• Must pass a fitness-for-duty physical at time of employment.
• Must possess or obtain CPR and First Aid certifications.
• Must have a valid California driver’s license without restrictions.
• Must pass a clear probation check with Orange County Probation.
• Must be able to engage with diverse client populations.
• Must be able to multi-task and make independent decisions when required.

Responsibilities

• Engage clients and ensure their safety at all times.
• Assist with admission and discharge processes and conduct nursing assessments.
• Provide medical care within LVN scope; monitor vitals and withdrawal symptoms (CIWA & COWS).
• Communicate with families, clients and outside healthcare providers as needed.
• Document all findings in the electronic medical record and medication observations.
• Adhere to CPR/First Aid and infection control guidelines; respond to emergencies.
• Perform blood draws and injectable medication per policy; follow documentation.
• Complete required forms and incident/shift reports; assist with education groups.
