Job summary

Pitt County Government's Detention Center seeks a Programs Coordinator under limited supervision to supervise the Programs Unit and oversee rehabilitative services for offenders, including social work, counseling, diversion, and reentry initiatives.

The role develops and coordinates unit programs, interfaces with health, administration, and community partners, screens offenders for placement, and prepares reports, risk assessments, and progress updates for stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or social services with relevant experience.
• 2 years in corrections, mental health, or related fields.
• Must have a valid North Carolina driver’s license and be eligible for detention officer certification.

Responsibilities

• Support inception and development of specialized programs within the detention facility.
• Supervise Programs Unit staff and manage day-to-day operations.
• Deliver modeled approaches to address substance use disorders and mental health needs.
• Link inmates to services and coordinate with healthcare providers and community partners.
• Maintain records of inmate participation and prepare program progress reports.
• Participate in stakeholder meetings and prepare funding proposals.
