Job summary

Jackson County Missouri is seeking a custodial worker to maintain cleanliness across the Jackson County Detention Center, Regional Correctional Center, Community Justice Building and the Criminal Justice Center.

The position requires lifting up to 100 pounds, willingness to work on various shifts, and being on call 24/7 for emergencies; you will also assist with inmate laundry, clothing exchanges and sewing repairs. Benefits include health care, pension and paid leave.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
• On-call availability 24/7 during emergencies and staff shortages.

Responsibilities

• Performs custodial duties at multiple county facilities per SOP.
• Assists in washing, drying and folding about 2800 pounds of laundry daily.
• Coordinates clothing exchange with inmates, replenishes clothing stock and mends clothes with a sewing machine.
• Routinely monitors and directs the work of inmate workers.
• May be assigned to two shifts and weekends.
• On call 24/7 for emergencies.
