Job summary

Jackson County Missouri is seeking a Corrections Officer to provide security for inmates at the Jackson County Detention Center and to follow established procedures. The role may involve different posts, areas, and shifts, with overtime or being drafted when staffing shortages arise.

Responsibilities include processing new inmates, checking for proper paperwork, conducting searches for contraband, assessing inmate health, and escorting inmates through intake functions and areas.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must complete and pass Jail Academy Exam
• Certified in first Aid, CPR and AED
• Must possess/maintain an active telephone
• Must submit to and pass a police background check, drug screen, motor vehicle record check and physical examination

Responsibilities

• Provide security for inmates housed at the Jackson County Detention Center and follow department procedures
• Associate may be assigned to different posts, areas and shifts as needed
• Escort inmates through intake functions and areas, perform searches for contraband, and assess injuries or health concerns
