Job summary

Epiq Solutions in Rolling Meadows, IL is seeking a Desktop Support Technician to be the first point of contact for employee IT needs. You will Install, configure, and upgrade software, diagnose issues, and provide end-user training, while ensuring security and system reliability across the desktop environment.

You will support on-site and remote users, manage inventory, and collaborate with the IT team to improve performance. Strong communication and customer-service orientation are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in computer science, information technology, or relevant field; or equivalent work experience.
• Proven experience as a Desktop Support Technician or similar role.
• Familiarity with Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.
• Knowledge of printers and scanners and office automation products.
• Experience with remote troubleshooting and resolution techniques.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP networking principles.
• Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve software and hardware issues.
• Knowledge of IT certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, etc.).
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Aptitude for learning new technologies and staying updated with trends.
• Physical ability to lift ~40 lbs.
• Excellent customer service orientation and patience.
• Availability for after-hours on-call rotation.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality with regard to information.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and upgrade PC software and operating systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
• Provide timely and accurate customer feedback.
• Support PC hardware components, desktop OS, and application software.
• Perform minor repairs and arrange service as needed.
• Record and manage inventory of hardware and software resources.
• Maintain passwords, data integrity, and file system security.
• Communicate with suppliers for repairs under warranty or service agreements.
• Provide end-user training and assistance as required.
• Manage setup and deployment for new employees' workstations.
• Implement company policies, procedures, and standards for IT infrastructure.
• Document internal procedures and resolutions to common issues.
• Collaborate with IT team to enhance system performance.
• Ensure security and privacy of the network and systems.
• Provide on-site and remote support for network connectivity issues.
