Job summary

Polk County Clerk of Courts is seeking a Desktop Support Specialist-I.T. to join the Bartow IT team. The role supports desktop hardware, software, printers, and workstation applications, and includes backup Help Desk duties.

The position requires an accredited high school diploma (A+ preferred), familiarity with Windows/Office, AD/Entra ID, and strong problem-solving and communication skills. Competitive benefits are offered, with a standard 8–5 schedule.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma.
• A+ certification or similar strongly preferred.
• Ability to research Florida statutes, County/Clerk policies, and technical manuals for compliance.
• Strong problem-solving and data collection abilities.
• Ability to interpret technical instructions and apply them practically.
• Knowledge of standard PC and network equipment including MS Windows/Office.
• Analytical skills to compute proportions, percentages, and volumes.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise for desktop hardware, software, printers, and workstation applications.
• Maintain an inventory of Clerk’s Office hardware and software assets.
• Collaborate with IT staff for secure, compatible desktop environments.
• Utilize centralized tools for software deployment, patching, and OS provisioning.
• Assist in disaster recovery procedures for desktop resources.
• Ensure workstation configurations meet security and regulatory requirements.
• Report and respond to network and PC issues promptly.
• Coordinate repairs with internal or external IT support.
• Serve as Help Desk backup for calls, emails, and tickets.
• Train users on hardware and software usage.
• Administer Active Directory and Entra ID tasks (user accounts, MFA).
• Provide remote assistance to satellite locations and maintain AV/unified communications.
