Job summary

Volunteers of America-Texas in Austin is seeking a dependable staff member to support tenants, visitors, and staff while monitoring building safety and security. The role includes administrative tasks and front-desk duties in a community-focused setting.

Day-to-day responsibilities include controlling access, logging incidents, assisting residents, responding to emergencies and maintaining organized files. This position offers both full-time and part-time schedules with benefits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma and four years general office experience.
• Valid Texas driver's license, clear MVR and ability to be insured.

Responsibilities

• Provides a friendly, supportive presence and connection for tenants, visitors and staff while monitoring the building for safety concerns.
• Observes all incoming and outgoing building traffic and enforces visitor sign-in procedures.
• Copies and files identification of visitors and maintains files on regular visitors.
• Reviews security logs and reports incidents to the Community Director for review.
• Creates a welcoming, professional tone in entrance areas and participates in safety training.
• Assists residents and visitors as needed and responds to emergencies with first responders.
• Completes incident reports and alerts security or management to any unusual tenant behaviors.

Day-To-Day

• Provides a friendly, supportive presence and connection for tenants, visitors and service personnel while at the same time monitoring the building for problems and any safety concerns.
• Observes all incoming and outgoing building traffic.
• Enforces visitor and guest sign-in-sign out process.
• Checks identification and/or tenant/staff badges of all persons entering the building. Copies and files identification of all visitors.
• Maintains files on ‘regular’ visitors.
• Reviews Security Log and log all occurrences of note within shift and submit to the Community Director for review.
• Creates a welcoming, friendly but observant and professional tone in entrance areas.
• Participates in fire and evacuation training, planning and operations.
• Assist any resident or visitor that may need physical help.
• Responds to emergencies and call for assistance from emergency first responders when necessary.
• Completes incident reports for any problem that arises.
• Provides first alert communication to supportive services and property management of any unusual tenant behaviors observed.
• Alerts security if there are signs of criminal or drug-related behaviors.

Qualifications
