Job summary

Virtuous is seeking an experienced frontend engineer to own the design system across the product surface. You will manage tokens, primitives, components, and production interfaces, collaborating with engineers and designers to ensure a fast, accessible, and brand-consistent experience.

You’ll shape adoption, implement AI-assisted patterns, and maintain system documentation. This role emphasizes ownership, measurable impact, and delivering high-quality interfaces at scale.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building production interfaces in a modern frontend stack.
• Direct experience owning a design system used by multiple teams in production.
• A real point of view on distribution and consumption: published package or registry.
• Genuine design sensibility and ability to defend UI decisions.
• Strong engineering fundamentals: Vue, React, component architecture, CSS at scale, performance and testing.
• Hands-on with AI tooling as part of your build workflow.
• Accessibility fluency and structural problem-solving for accessibility.
• Comfort working with designers as partners and the credibility to push back.
• Excellent written communication; documentation is part of the product.

Responsibilities

• Own the design system end-to-end: tokens, primitives, components, and documentation in code.
• Define the operating model to ship patterns without fragmenting the system.
• Drive adoption by treating engineers as users and measuring drift and coverage.
• Build production interface work weekly to inform system quality and user experience.
• Ensure the AI guardrail keeps interfaces on brand and legible to models.
• Embed accessibility into the system and promote structural solutions.
• Bridge design to production by turning validated patterns into system defaults.
