Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Design Engineer II to join our design-build team in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment. You will work with model coordinators, estimators, and trade staff to develop practical, efficient, cost‑effective designs for healthcare, education, biotech, mission critical, commercial, and entertainment markets.

You will perform complex calculations, prepare redline layouts for estimating, and ensure code compliance while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Engineering or related field.
• 5 years experience.
• PE License preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of HVAC and plumbing design and system operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex calculations (heating/cooling loads, equipment sizing, friction loss).
• Prepare preliminary redline design layouts for estimating.
• May be responsible for a single project phase.
• Provide guidance to less experienced engineers.
• Ensure code compliance.
• Review codes and field conditions to support design.
