Job summary

EMCOR Group is seeking a Design Engineer II in San Luis Obispo, CA to support HVAC, building automation, chiller and retrofit projects. You will assist senior engineers, perform site surveys, analyze design solutions, and help size and retrofit equipment.

The role requires a degreed Mechanical or Energy Engineering background with 2+ years of related experience, EIT/FE designation, and proficiency in AutoCAD and energy simulation tools. On-site work with full benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Degreed mechanical or energy engineering background.
• 2+ years experience in related role.
• EIT/FE designation obtained; PE is in process.

Responsibilities

• Assist Senior Engineers and conduct site surveys.
• Analyze project intent and propose design solutions.
• Document equipment function, locations, capacities, and trace piping/ductwork.
• Convert field surveys into plan formats and assist in sizing and retrofits.
• Prepare submittal packages and work scopes.
• Support project improvement by standardizing procedures and collecting documentation.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• The Design Engineer II will perform various tasks assigned by the Senior Engineers and
• Developing the ability to independently conduct job site surveys with a complete understanding of the project's intent and be able to analyze and propose design solutions and installation
• Developing the ability to conduct audits and surveys as needed independently. Record identifying equipment function, tags, location, capacities, photos, etc. Trace piping and ductwork onto field
• Developing the ability to independently convert field surveys (sourced from self or others) into useable formats for plan and project development. Assist in planning to size, replace, and retrofit new equipment to replace aged or obsolete
• Other duties may include copying/printing/scanning, assembly of equipment submittal packages, assistance in preparing work scope, and other tasks as
• Participate in the company’s project improvement process by refining standard design practices, calculating spreadsheet templates, updating and establishing standard procedures and practices, and collecting supporting documentation for various projects to be references for future

Qualifications

• Degreed Mechanical or Energy Engineering engineer
• 2+ years of related experience.
• Obtained EIT/FE designation. In the process of obtaining PE
• Proficient with AutoCAD, MS Office Suite, and other related software
• Computer savvy, with advanced knowledge of computers and handling
• Willing and able to understand and learn new
• Demonstrated proficiency with energy simulation software. Reasonable understanding of energy management
